“Politics and The Internet” or “No One Cares About Your Stupid Political Opinions So Post Some Cat Photos or Fuck Off”
I have this morbid habit of reading the comments section of any page I’m on. The particularly bad ones are on news and video game sites. It never ceases to amaze me how many times the ‘conversation’ going on in the comment section turns towards the political. Can we like, together, as a collective race in this digital environment to make some Geneva conventions or something, making this “Law 1”; To not see a political side to everything under the sun and comment about it.
So I am on Amazon today, looking on the deals page when I scroll past the customer discussion threads and see one about gun violence and one about minimum wage. There is a place for these discussions, in fact there are many places on the internet to talk about politics (I would assume numbering in the millions). A news article about scientists detecting intergalactic planets is not one of them. A Youtube video of a dancing cat is not one of them. A retail site like Amazon is not one of them.

(Note: I let the top topic slide simply because it got bonus points for having a completely ridiculous name,)
